Cap and gown pics will be made on Friday, February 8. The school will provide caps and gowns for the students. Male students need to wear a white shirt and have a dark tie. Females need to wear something which won't show at the top (no turtlenecks, etc). Envelopes will be provided for payment and package selection at a later date.
If you applied to UNC-CH and you are a First Generation College Student, Carolina is inviting you and your parents to the campus for a special event on Saturday, December 1. The event includes an information session, a campus tour, an opportunity to meet current students, and lunch. If you are interested, please RSVP at: mycarolina.unc.edu/portal/fgc.
Jostens will be at South Lenoir during all lunches on December 4th. If you have not ordered your cap and gown package, this is the LAST CALL on these orders. Please make sure you place your senior order with the Jostens representative on December 4th!
Senior Picture retakes are scheduled for November 15th. These are tux and drape photos only. If you missed summer session photos, you will need to have your picture made this day for the yearbook for no charge. If you would like a set of proofs mailed to your home, you will pay a $10 sitting fee and 6 proofs will be taken and sent to you. If you need a formals (tux/drape) retake from this summer, please bring your set of proofs to the photographer on this day and they will retake with no sitting fee.
If you are an early graduate, you are reminded the deadline for submitting your Community Service signed log, 1 page paper, and 3 photos to Mrs. Loftin is Friday, November 30th by 3 PM. If you do not turn in these required materials, you will not be allowed to participate in the graduation commencement exercise in June.

How to apply: You must provide a type-written essay and turn it in the counseling center by Thursday, November 8 at 3 p.m. Your essay topic is "In 75 to 100 words, please describe the most rewarding and challenging aspect of being a leader in your school and community." Completed essays need to be returned to Mrs. Tyndall in the counseling center by the deadline listed above. Greetings from Summer Ventures at ECU! Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics is a cost-free, statewide science and math enrichment program for students with proven academic ability, motivation in the STEM fields of study, and emotional maturity. Summer Ventures takes students beyond the traditional boundaries of high school science and mathematics while exploring topics of interest to them and learning experimental design, laboratory skills, instrumentation, mathematical modeling, strategies in mathematical problem solving and more. At the end of the four-week residential program, students present a comprehensive research project on a current topic in a STEM field of study. The online application may be found at: https://www.ncssm.edu/summerventures The application period for 2019 opens October 15, 2018 and the deadline for submitting summer 2019 applications is January 15, 2019. Students who submit applications prior to January 15, 2019 will be notified of admission decisions April 9, 2019. Our Summer Ventures office at ECU is available to assist you and your students with information about the application process or about the program in general.
