Attention Juniors: Please see the information below about ECU Honors College if you are interested in pursing this awesome opportunity next year as a senior: Important Honors College Information The Honors College at ECU is a wonderful opportunity for high-achieving students, providing focused support services, memorable experiences, and generous scholarship support. This year, the deadline to apply to ECU to be eligible for the Honors College is November 1, 2018. This is a change from the November 15 deadline in previous years. A student's application for undergraduate admission, transcript, and test scores must all be received by this date. You should take the SAT and/or ACT this summer or in early fall. The September 8, 2018 ACT test date and the October 6, 2018 SAT test date are the latest dates that would allow scores to be available by the November 1 application deadline. Please see the attached flyer with additional important Honors College dates.
This is just a reminder you have FOUR weeks remaining to take and pass the placement test (if needed) in order to take LCC courses. You will not be allowed to extend the April 13th deadline. All score reports are due to Mrs. Tyndall in the counseling center before 3pm on April 13th. Please do not wait until the week of to take the test for the first time as you may have to take it a second time.
The Testing Center is open during our spring break, but not on the Monday after Easter. If you are interested in volunteering for Pink Hill's Field Day on April 26 and 27, please contact Ms. Holloway directly via email [email protected] or by calling the school to leave her a voice mail. Remember, these 2 days are school days. Therefore, unless you have an online LCC class during the time you volunteer, you will be counted absent for the classes you miss. You must not exceed 10 absences in each class.

Last year, South Lenoir began to collaborate with our feeder elementary schools to allow South Lenoir's senior class to participate in a "Senior Walk" at the elementary school they attended. If a student did not attend one of the 3 elementary schools in our track (Moss Hill, Pink Hill, Southwood), they were allowed to attend a walk at a school of their choice.
This year, we are planning to allow seniors to participate in the Senior Walk again. The date of the walk is Friday, May 18th. We currently do not have a time the walk will occur, but each walk will occur at the same time at each school and on the same day. Students will wear their graduation regalia to walk through the halls of the elementary school of their choosing. There is a sign in sheet in the counseling center with Mrs. Loftin. If you are interested in participating in this event this year, please make sure to stop by and sign up by Friday, May 4th. We will need a headcount to send to the elementary schools in advance so they can prepare light refreshments if they choose. This is a great opportunity for students to revisit their "roots" and be a positive role model for younger students. |
