Perry Outreach Program will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC. The Perry Outreach Program is a free, one-day, hands-on experience for high school women who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine and engineering. Students will hear from women leaders in these fields and try it for themselves by performing mock orthopaedic surgeries and biomechanics experiments.
They are now seeking applicants for our Winston-Salem, NC program. Participants should be women in grades 10 and up with an expressed interest in science, medicine and/or engineering. Applicants should fill out the online application in advance of the January 3, 2018 application deadline. On November 3rd juniors with at least a 3.8 gpa and seniors with at least a 4.0 gpa can take advantage of this opportunity. If you do not know your gpa, please come see in my office to talk about this and to also get your permission slips. You will need a parent permission slip signed as well as a teacher permission slip signed. This college trip will consist of lunch, a presentation by UNC admissions, and a campus tour. There will be several colleges from surrounding areas available to answer any questions you have regarding their college and/or majors. We hope to see you there! C-CATS is a program designed specifically for high-achieving 9th and 10th grade students. It introduces top-ranking students to Clemson University through exciting weekend adventures that engage them in the academic, social, and recreational opportunities offered at Clemson. On October 24th at 6pm, Ms. Trujillo will be hosting a FAFSA night at South Lenoir High School.
I will also be hosting another FAFSA night on October 26th at 6pm in Spanish. For those of you that may not know, FAFSA stands for "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" and is the best resource for your child to receive financial aid from the colleges they are applying to (This includes Community College). During our FAFSA night, she will be providing an informational session as well as providing some time on computers in order for you and your child to start the FAFSA.
