Please Save the Date for January 22nd - Ms. Humphrey and Mrs. Kennedy from LCC will be on campus at SL to assist students and families with completing the FAFSA. The priority deadline at several colleges for FAFSA is March 1st, so please don't delay! The Wilson College of Textiles at NC State University is holding its Annual Open House on October 19, 2019 from 9am to 4pm. This year, their Open House is open to the community with activities for all age groups, tours of labs will be available, meet and greet with faculty, door prizes, and much more. It is FAFSA Opening Day!!!!
Beginning today, students and families will be able to begin working on the FAFSA for the 2020-2021 school year. In addition, October 1st marks the beginning of Countdown to College Month! This month, Ms. Humphrey, our college advisor, and I will be hosting several events to help students and families complete items necessary for college. Please contact Ms. Humphrey or I if you would like to sign up. Money Mondays - FAFSA Assistance - Monday, October 7 from 4pm to 7pm - Monday, October 14th from 3pm to 6pm FAFSA Friday - Friday, October 11 - during the school day to set up FSA IDs and assist with FAFSA Strawbridge has just informed us the Fall date for formal pictures only (drape/tux pictures for the yearbook) will be on November 14th. This is the only date for seniors for drapes/tux photos. Thank you!
Please Save the Date for Senior Parent Night which will be held on Tuesday, September 24th at 6pm in the auditorium at South Lenoir. Topics to be discussed include: Graduation Requirements, Scholarship Information, Financial Aid/FAFSA, and College Decisions. There will be a representative from a university, a community college, as well as a financial aid director to discuss the "hot topics" surrounding senior year and college life. I look forward to seeing you there!
SAVE THE DATE for Lenoir County's College and Financial Aid Night, which will be held on Wednesday, October 30 at the Kinston Community Center. At this event, you will be able to meet with over 50 college/university representatives between 5:30 and 7:30 pm. At 6:30pm, you will be able to attend a FREE workshop on Financial Aid. We hope to see you there!!
Applications are now available for the Summer Student Volunteer Program at UNC Lenoir Health Care. The summer program will run from June 17 - August 9, 2019. Teens must be in 9th-12th grade, have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA, and positive recommendations from their teachers in order to apply. The students applying must be mature, dependable, and capable of working with minimal supervision. Student packets will be available beginning April 1st and must be returned by April 26th to be considered for the program. Packets may be picked up at the Patient Information Desk or Volunteer Services at UNC Lenoir Health Care (Lenoir Memorial Hospital). Students may also request an application packet to be mailed by calling 522-7006 or emailing [email protected]. **South Lenoir does not have any application packets.**

Mrs. Wilson from LCC will be here on Thursday, February 28th beginning at 8am to meet with current CCP students about their CCP pathways and what their next steps are directly related to what they plan to do after graduation. If you are interested, please see Mrs. Tyndall in the counseling center to schedule a time to talk to Mrs. Wilson. This would be a great time to discuss and plan what courses you will need to take during summer, next fall and next spring. You will have to schedule a time to meet with her, so see Mrs. Tyndall as soon as possible. Thanks!
