Any current junior or senior interested in taking LCC classes in the spring, and are not already currently taking courses, please see Mrs. Tyndall in the counseling center by October 31st. Interested students must have a 3.0 GPA to take CTE LCC courses and College Transfer courses. In order to take College Transfer courses (Psychology, English, Math, Science, History, etc), students must have the GPA, as well as qualifying test scores. Mrs. Wilson from LCC will be at South Lenoir the first week of November to register students and all new student information needs to be collected and complete before she comes.

Seniors and Senior Parents, Lenoir County Public Schools welcomes all seniors and their parents to attend a FREE workshop on Financial Aid "Going to College without Going Broke." The workshop topics include: college costs, financial aid eligibility, FAFSA, state and federal grants, scholarships and loans, and CFNC resources. This important information session about Financial Aid is provided by Amy Denton, CFNC Regional Representative, and local college Financial Aid Officers. The workshop will be held at Lenoir Community College Administrative Building Auditorium this Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. Seniors and their parents from North Lenoir, South Lenoir, Kinston High, Lenoir County Early College, Arendell Parrott Academy, and Bethel Christian Academy are invited to attend. If you have any questions, please contact your school counselor.
A representative from ECU Honors College will be at South Lenoir on Tuesday, October 9th at 9:15 in the auditorium to share many opportunities to prospective students. Interested students are invited to attend.
The PSAT will be offered Tuesday, October 10th. If you are interested in taking the practice SAT, please see Mrs. Loftin in the Counseling Center to sign up. The cost is $16.00. Checks should be made out to South Lenoir High School.
If you are wanting to take LCC classes next year, this is one of the tests that can be used to meet the criteria. Also as an 11th grader, you can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship which opens up many doors for you as far as colleges and scholarships. Only 50 slots are available! First come, first serve! Please Save the Date for next Thursday, October 4th for CFNC's Financial Aid Night. This event will be held at the LCC Main Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. This is an important session about the "ins and outs" of Financial Aid. Don't miss it! Hope to see you there!
Please SAVE THE DATE for Saturday, October 27th from 9am - 12 pm - FAFSA Day! Completing the FAFSA is the first step to pay for college. Financial Aid campuses around the state are hosting FAFSA Day, an event where families bring their information to get individualized help filling out the FAFSA. Take advantage of this FREE assistance and register TODAY at https://www.onlineregistrationcenter.com/register/222/page1.asp?m=227&c=2949. The FAFSA application opens October 1st. There are a few things you need to do in advance before starting your FAFSA application: 1. Both the student AND a parent should create an FSA ID at fsaid.ed.gov. Some parents may have already created an ID if they completed the FAFSA for another child or themselves. 2. Make sure you have your 2017 tax information.
