The BBB Torch Scholarship program recognizes students who personify high ethical standards as demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity and academic success. Torch scholarships are awarded to college-bound high school juniors and seniors, and college undergraduates. Scholarship prizes of $5,000 (1), $3,000 (1), and $1,000 (4) will be offered. to be eligible, students must submit an essay of 1,000 words or less, along with an application, transcript and a letter of recommendation from a BBB Accredited Business (you can check out a list of Accredited Businesses at bbb.org/raleigh-durham/accredited-business-directory/). Completed application packets are due by Monday, March 21, 2016. The essay topic is: As the CEO of a company, how would you incorporate BBB's Code of Business Practices into your organization? Explain why each practice is important and how it would impact your relationship with consumers and other businesses. The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program recognizes and supports the journey of students who have overcome obstacles, bettering themselves and their communities. Students who plan to enroll full time at a four-year college or university and who plan to major in a specified course of study focused on engineering, technology or design, or with an interest in the automotive industry are encouraged to apply. Pitt Community College is now accepting applications for the Fall 2016-Spring 2017 Ambassador Leadership Program. This program is an exclusively selected group of 10-12 students each year. These students perform service hours each week and represent PCC at official college and Foundation events. We are looking for students with outgoing personalities, professional appearance and high academic achievement (3.2 unweighted GPA or better in high school or college). Students can be current college students or high school seniors. Nominees will be screened for strong oral and written communication skills (public speaking), knowledge of the college and community, ability to make a positive impression, scheduling flexibility, access to transportation, and high level of commitment to PCC. Ambassadors must maintain full-time status and perform 3-5 hours of required service work per week in a particular area on campus. The ambassador scholarship service requirement/activities must be considered first priority in light of other work commitments — no exceptions will be made. Final acceptance into program is dependent upon final Spring semester grades. Ambassadors should be highly motivated, self-starters, great leaders, and more. We are looking for the best of the best. Ambassadors receive compensation in the form of tuition and fees and will be provided with collegiate attire to distinguish them as official college representatives All interested applicants must complete the attached application. This scholarship is to provide deserving and most needy high school seniors with financial assistance of $1000.00 that they may pursue their academic goals once they have been accepted into a four year college or university of their choice. Only 1 senior from each high school in Lenoir County will be chosen for this scholarship. Eligible students will be selected for their high school academic achievements (C+ average or above), their SAT scores, their extra-curricular activities, and their involvement in community service. Eligible students must submit a 500-word (typed) essay covering points that are listed on the application form. Students may access the application in the attachment below. Students need to turn in their completed application materials to Mrs. Tyndall no later than March 22nd. Late applications will not be accepted.
The LCC Foundation Scholarship application is now available. Students interested in attending LCC next year will need to complete this application in order to become eligible for any LCC scholarships. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis by a selection committee. Applicants for scholarships must enroll, demonstrate academic promise, participate in school and community activities, and show some financial need. The scholarship application deadline is Friday, March 25. *Please note, you must also complete your FAFSA in order to receive any scholarship/grant funding from LCC, or any college. Attached you will find details and information about the State Employees Credit Union "People Helping People" Scholarship. This is a highly competitive scholarship, as only one student is selected from each high school. Interested students must be attending one of the 16 UNC system public universities, read and complete the information attached below, and strictly adhere to the April 6th deadline. The Farm Bureau R Flake Scholarship is now available for students who are interested in pursing a future in the Agriculture industry at either a 4 year university or a 2 year community college.
