Good Neighbor Pharmacy is pleased to announce the Good Neighbor Pharmacy College Scholarship Program. To qualify, students must be: attending their senior year of high school at the time of submitting the application; students must graduate in the spring of 2015 and be enrolled in an accredited US college on a full-time basis during the 2015 fall and 2016 spring terms. One winner from North Carolina will receive a $2,500 scholarship and one will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Students must obtain their application by visiting one of the following Good Neighbor Pharmacies: Kinston Clinic North Pharmacy in Kinston or Wayne Pharmacy in Goldsboro. Students must also submit their application to one of the above pharmacies listed above. Completed applications must be submitted to the pharmacy by April 11, 2015.
Presented as a one-time award of $300.00. Upon receiving official enrollment confirmation of attendance from the college/university of the student’s choice, the award shall be released to the student. Applications are available in the counseling center. Completed applications should be submitted to Mrs. Tyndall on or before April 1, 2015.
Any senior planning to attend Wayne Community College after graduation should apply for their foundation scholarship. They ask that you complete your FAFSA and then the foundation scholarship in that order. You can obtain a copy of the application at www.waynecc.edu/Foundation/ (click scholarships).
James Sprunt Community College
If you are planning to attend James Sprunt Community College in the fall, there is information about the academic scholarships available at James Sprunt Community College in the SLHS counseling center. The application deadline for awards is March 16. Awards are for scholarships, which will begin fall semester 2015. Please make a note that the GPA requirement is now 3.0 to apply. Herring Scholarships at James Sprunt Community College Application packets for the Herring Scholarship at James Sprunt Community College for 2015-2016 are now available in the counseling center. This scholarship has been established for eligible students who are residents of Duplin County and the Town of Mount Olive. Application deadline is March 16. Pink Hill Ruritan Scholarship
Applications for the The Pink Hill Ruritan Scholarship are now available in the counseling center. Recipients of this scholarship will receive $300 to use towards higher education. Recipients are determined on the basis of financial need, character, scholarship, academic promise and desire by the applicant for further education or training. *Only students with a Pink Hill area address can apply*. Completed applications must be turned in to Mrs. Tyndall in the counseling center by Friday, March 20 at 2:40 pm. The Nursing Department at Lenoir Memorial Hospital is offering a $1,000.00 Nursing Leadership Scholarship for high school seniors planning to pursue a nursing degree. The application can only be obtained from the SLHS Counseling Department and has to be returned to the SLHS Counseling Department by Tuesday, March 31, 2015. This is a local scholarship. Please apply if you are planning to go to school for nursing. Students do not have to be attending any particular college to receive this scholarship.
The Nu Iota Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity is seeking qualified African-American male students to award scholarships for post secondary education. Students must have a 3.0 weighted GPA to apply. If the scholarship criteria apply to you, please stop by the counseling center for an application. Completed applications are due to Mrs. Tyndall by March 31st.
Available to graduating seniors who meet the following criteria: At least one parent must be a member of the North Carolina Child Support Council or a client of the Child Support Program (through either Child Support services or Clerk of Court services); Applicant must be a resident of NC; Applicant must have been accepted by a NC school of higher learning (college, university, community college or technical school). All students have received an electronic copy of the application emailed to their school email address. Paper copies of the application will be available in the counseling center. Application must be postmarked no later than April 24, 2015.
Available to any graduating senior who has applied for admission in a post-high school program.
