The Ashton Rhodes Memorial Scholarship is a program established to assist young men and women in securing financial aid for formal education beyond high school. Eligible seniors are those that are associated with, or whose parent(s) or legal guardian(s) are associated with, local Emergency Services (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, etc.). The graduating senior must be enrolled in one of the five Lenoir County High Schools. If eligible, applications are available in the counseling center. Applications must be received by the President or Secretary of the Fire Department no later than 5:00pm on May 4, 2015. Applications may be hand-delivered to the Fire Station or mailed to the following address:

The application for the scholarship is attached. Please provide copies to interested graduating seniors. Any questions about the scholarship may be directed to Mary Williams at 252-523-3496.
The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary Scholarship is now available. Paper applications are also available in the counseling center. Completed applications are due to the Salvation Army by 4:00PM on May 1, 2015.
The Lenoir County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited is offering the Natural Resources Conservation of Lenoir County Scholarship again this year.
Applications were sent directly to Lenoir County student emails. Paper copies of the application are available in the counseling center. Applications are due Friday, May 1, 2015. The Jones-Onslow Electric Membership Corporation Principal's Application is now available in the counseling center. JOEMC will be providing $1,000 each for two students to the college of their choice. For an application, please see Mrs. Greer in the counseling center. Completed applications are due to Mrs. Tyndall on or before Tuesday, April 14. No late applications will be accepted.
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Sigma Chapter, is offering a scholarship in the amount of $500 to a student who meets the following requirements: -Female student aspiring to major in education
-Lenoir County resident -Must maintain a 2.5 GPA -Family members of Sigma Chapter will be given priority This scholarship may be renewable for four years, depending on fund availability, and provided the recipient continues to meet all requirements and reapplies each year. Applications are available in the counseling center. Completed applications need to be returned to Mrs. Tyndall by Thursday, March 26. "Heart of a Champion" - The Kirby and Holt Foundation award the "Heart of a Champion Scholarship" in honor of Paul Novicki, a 2005 graduate of South Lenoir High School. Criteria for this scholarship includes:
- 3.0 weighted GPA or higher - Received at least one (1) letter in athletics - Planning to continue education at the college level - Exemplifies the heart of a champion - Demonstrates courage Deadline to apply is April 30. Wiley Family Scholarship: One time award of $200. Minimum GPA of 2.5 is required. The student must exemplify qualities of scholarship and devotion to their community and South Lenoir High School. Deadline to apply is April 30.
The NC Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa is pleased to announce the Ellen Simmons Howes Prospective Educator Scholarship. This scholarship honors Ellen and her more than 20 years of service to Phi Delta Kappa. The Ellen Simmons Howes Prospective Educator Scholarship will be used to aid college students with financial needs as they pursue a degree in the field of education. Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to four students, one from each of the four geographic areas [north, south, east and west] in North Carolina.
