For the upcoming 2017-2018 award year, the SECU People Helping People Scholarships will no longer be provided to each regular public high school as they have been in the past. Instead, SECU Foundation will be providing a total of 435 scholarships to be allocated among the 115 NC Local Education Agencies (LEAs). Each scholarship will be valued at $10,000 payable for full-time undergraduate tuition and fees at $1,250 per semester for 8 consecutive semesters only at 1 of the 16 public campuses in the UNC System.
Each LEA (Central Office) is now responsible for administering the SECU People Helping People Scholarship, which includes the responsibility for selecting both the high school(s) and graduating senior(s) to receive the available scholarships. Individual school committees will no longer be selecting recipients for this scholarship. At this time, we do not have any scholarship materials to distribute, but as soon as I receive further instructions and an application, I will forward that information to all seniors and senior parent emails I have.
