The scholarship is "Aspiring Business Professional" Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a business degree at any accredited post-secondary school or college. The deadline for the scholarship is June 1, 2016. The Horatio Alger Association Career and Technical Scholarship Program is now available for students to apply. This program provides financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarship criteria also include high school completion by spring of 2016, commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical certificate/degree, and US citizenship. The Association will award 510 scholarships in 2016 (10 in each state) with a maximum award amount of $2,500 depending on the length of the program. The South Lenoir Booster Club in memory of Mr. Frankie Casey, a loyal South Lenoir teacher, coach, and Booster Club supporter awards the "Frankie Casey Memorial Scholarship." The South Lenoir Booster Club Scholarship Committee makes the selection for this $500 scholarship. The Ashton Rhodes Memorial Scholarship is a program established to assist young men and women in securing financial aid for formal education beyond high school. Any graduating senior that is associated with, or whose parent(s) or legal guardian(s) are associated with, local Emergency Services (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, etc.) are eligible to apply. The scholarship is a one-time award of $750, issued to the student. The George Fisher Memorial Firefighter Scholarship is a program established to assist young men and women in securing financial aid for education beyond high school. The scholarship is a one-time award of $3,000, issued to the student, who is an active member in good standing in a Lenoir County fire department (Deep Run, Grifton, Hugo, La Grange, North Lenoir, Pink Hill, Sand Hill, Sandy Bottom, Seven Springs, Southwood, or Wyse Fork). The Kirby and Holt Foundation awards the "Heart of a Champion Scholarship" in honor of Paul Novicki, a 2005 graduate of South Lenoir High School. Criteria for this scholarship includes: Graduating senior at South Lenoir 3.0 weighted GPA or higher Received at least one (1) letter in athletics Planning to continue education at the college level Exemplifies the heart of a champion Demonstrates courage Completed applications are due to Mrs. Tyndall in the counseling center on or before May 2.
This scholarship will be a one-time award of approximately $200.00. Recipient will be announced at Awards Day. Applicants must plan to continue their education at a four-year college, community college, or technical institute and have a weighted GPA of 2.5 or higher. The student must exemplify qualities of scholarship and devotion to their community and South Lenoir High School. Completed applications are due to Mrs. Tyndall in the counseling center on or before May 2.
