The Moss Hill Ruritan Scholarship is now available. This scholarship will be a one-time award of $500 made payable to the student's college. The recipient will be announced on Awards Day in May of 2017. Please see the attachment below for eligibility requirements and the application. Please returned completed applications to Mrs. Tyndall in the counseling center by 3 pm on April 13th.
Students expecting to begin an accredited college or technical institution in the fall of 2017 who need financial assistance may want to submit an application to the Drum-Wilkinson Educational Foundation, Inc., for one of our scholarships. We cannot award a scholarship to every applicant but will be able to help some. The application is attached. Deadline for completed application to be received by the Foundation is March 31, 2017. Lenoir Community College Foundation Scholarships are available to assist students who demonstrate financial need and are committed to academic excellence. The online scholarship application is available at www.lenoircc.edu/scholarship. Completed applications are due prior to March 31, 2017.
If you are interested in serving as an Ambassador, there is not a separate application form. Please mark the appropriate box on the online scholarship application to indicate your interest. Pitt Community College is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 Student Ambassador Leadership Program. This program is an exclusively selected group of 10-12 students each year. These students perform service hours each week and represent PCC at official college and Foundation events.
We are looking for students with outgoing personalities, service to school or community, volunteers, leadership skills and activities, professional appearance, and high academic achievement (3.2 unweighted GPA or better in high school or college). Students can be current college students or high school seniors. Nominees will be screened for strong oral and written communication skills (public speaking), knowledge of the college and community, ability to make a positive impression, and high level of commitment to PCC. Ambassadors must maintain full-time status and perform 3-5 hours of required volunteer service work per week. Ambassador scholarship service requirement /activities must be considered first priority in light of other work commitments — no exceptions will be made. Final acceptance into program is dependent upon final Spring semester grades. Chosen Ambassadors must attend a luncheon in June, 3 day leadership training, fall retreat (1 day of Fall break), spring retreat, and serve at all Foundation and Alumni events. Ambassadors receive compensation in the form of tuition and fees and will be provided with collegiate attire to distinguish them as official college representatives All interested applicants must complete the attached application. Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its third annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:
+ A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics + A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare This scholarship is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs. Scholarship applications will be accepted until midnight on June 30, 2017. Here they'll find detailed scholarship information and the official application form. The North Carolina Bar Association is location high school seniors who may qualify for the scholarship program for children of North Carolina Law Enforcement Officers who were killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty. The completed application must be returned to the Bar Association by Monday, April 3, 2017 in order to be considered for a scholarship for the 2017-2018 school year. Two high school seniors have the opportunity of a lifetime - participation in the National Youth Science Camp (NYSC). Students receive a full scholarship to exchange ideas with scientists and other professionals from the academic and corporate worlds. The nearly month-long experience includes lectures and hands-on research projects presented by scientists from across the nation; overnight expeditions into a national forest; and a visit to Washington D.C. The selected delegates must not only demonstrate academic achievement in science, but also show potential for thoughtful scientific leadership.
The NYSC experience is offered at no cost to its participants so that selected delegates may attend regardless of their financial status. Educational and recreational programming, as well as meals, lodging, and round-trip air passage on scheduled airlines are provided free of charge. Tentative dates are June 14 – July 8, 2017. The NYSC is held near Bartow in the eastern mountains of West Virginia, within the Monongahela National Forest.
