The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society. Kinston Elks Lodge Scholarship Applications are now available ONLINE. Visit the Elks website http://www.elks.org/enf/scholars/. Students should click on the button “Most Valuable Student Scholarships” which will take them to the page where they can download an application. When the application is completed, students will need to print their applications and turn them in to Mrs. Greer in the counseling center by Tuesday, December 2, 2014.
The U.S. Senate Youth Scholarship is a scholarship program that provides an educational opportunity for juniors and seniors interested in pursuing careers in history, political science or public service. Two students will be selected as winning delegates for NC and will spend a week in Washington, DC March 7-14 experiencing our national government in action. In addition, each delegate will also be awarded a $5000.00 college scholarship for undergraduate studies, with encouragement to pursue coursework in history and political science. The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is offering a scholarship in which recipients may receive up to $40,000 per year for up to four years; pursue any area of study; take advantage of individual advising about selecting a college, navigating financial aid, and transitioning to college; and, have the opportunity to network with other high-achievers within the JKCF Scholar Community. The College of Textiles at NC State University has announced the opening of the 16th annual Centennial Scholarship competition for top graduating students who are interested in NC State University. This program should be directed towards students interested in career fields such as engineering, business management, chemistry, polymer chemistry, forensics, medical fields, international studies, design, apparel, sourcing, fashion, merchandising or retail management.
