One important note about the application is it is only available to graduating seniors who are current members of State Employees' Credit Union (SECU) or the child or a parent/guardian who is a member of SECU at the time of application. Membership eligibility does not include Local Government Federal Credit Union or NC Press Association Credit Union members. Preference will be given to students whose parents or guardians and family members are public sector employees (state, local or federal government; public health, public education) who live and work in North Carolina. In addition, students must also be planning to attend one of the 16 public colleges/universities in North Carolina. Students attending private colleges or community colleges are not eligible for this particular SECU scholarship. If you are planning to attend a community college, you will need to contact the scholarship foundation at the community college you plan to attend to discuss the community college SECU scholarship.
To submit your application, you will need to submit the required documents both electronically to me via email and a hard copy to the counseling center. You will need to submit the following items:
1 - Typed Word document of the attached SECU application.
2 - Signed Consent Form (this is the only item that does not need to be submitted electronically).
3 - Photo (headshot preferred)
4 - Student Bio (guidelines attached below)
5 - University acceptance letter - Remember, to be eligible you must be accepted and planning to attend one of the 16 PUBLIC universities in NC (these are listed on the FAQ sheet).
Completed applications need to be submitted to Mrs. Tyndall in the counseling center and via email by Friday, February 25th at 3pm. Late applications will not be accepted. Please make sure to submit all items at one time.
